End Of Term 3 Reflection
My Reflection
One thing I have learnt this term is to write a descriptive writing. The purpose of a descriptive writing is to describe a person, place or a thing. In a descriptive writing, you must use figurative language to add detail, such as similes, metaphors, onomatopoeia, emotive words, alliteration and personification. Another one is to 'show not tell.' An example of show not tell is: 'Sam tries his hardest to hold on. His hands are sweaty from his fear. He tries to grab on with his other hand but fails. His mind races while he saw rocks falling underneath him. He can't hold on any longer, he is about to meet his very own death...' Rather than saying, 'he is nearly falling off the cliff.
Another thing I have learnt this term from my literacy group are food webs. There are food chains and food webs. A food chain has only one chain that is in order but a food web is a more complex chain that has more chains connected to one thing. In a food chain, there are always producers, consumers and decomposers. A producer is mostly a plant that takes energy from the sun which makes food. The food gets eaten by the consumers and then the decomposers break down the waste. Some types of producers are flowers, seaweed and trees. Some consumers are humans, koala and eagles. And decomposers are bacteria, fungi, worms, bugs and mold.
